Kanye West and the Flaming Lips will headline a full slate of musical acts at X Games Austin in June.

More than a dozen artists, including Kanye West and the Flaming Lips, will perform at X Games Austin this June, turning the four-day event into a large music and sports festival ESPN announced on Tuesday. Additionally, X Games Austin will add a Stadium Super Trucks event to its roster of RallyCross racing, BMX, Skateboarding, and Moto X competitions.

“The best athletes competing at the highest levels remain the core of X Games," said Scott Guglielmino, Sr. Vice president of programming and X Games for ESPN, in a statement announcing "But we’re incredibly excited about being able to create a full-scale festival around that, which celebrates some of the other elements of the X Games lifestyle – music, friends, family, food and fun.”

The music marquee for the four-day festival also includes performances by Pretty Lights, Bad Religion, Gary Clark Jr., Mac Miller, Slightly Stoopid, Dillon Francis, Mayer Hawthorne, Wavves, Cash Cash, FMLYBND and Candyland at the Austin360 Amphitheater and other stages across the venue, as well as a special stage dedicated to local acts and a dance hall venue featuring DJs and EDM artists. Pre-sale tickets for X Games Austin, held at the Circuit of the Americas June 5-8, home of the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix, go on sale on Friday on XGamesAustin.com.

X Games Austin also marks the return of the popular BMX Dirt event to the U.S. for the first time since 2006, following last year's X Games Foz do Iguaçu. BMX Park, Street, and Big Air competitions will also be featured, as will BMX Vert, which was not contested at X Games Los Angeles 2013.

"It's the greatest news I've heard in a long time for BMX," said Jamie Bestwick, who will now seek to extend his unparalleled streak of eight consecutive X Games gold medals in BMX Vert. "To have every BMX discipline in for X Games with this new generation of riders is a real step in the right direction, especially since Austin already has such a great BMX community and true fans. It's a very exciting announcement for X Games, and I'm very, very happy to hear it."

What will it take for Bestwick to make it nine in a row to properly inaugurate the X Games Austin vert ramp?

"The same as it takes to win just one," Bestwick told XGames.com. "A lot of hard work, a love for riding bikes, and the dedication that a rider -- in this case myself -- is willing to put in to be the best in a chosen discipline. I've got great people and great sponsors behind me helping make me the best I can be. The rest is just going for it."

The Circuit of the Americas venue will also host Skateboard Big Air, Park, Vert, and men's and women's Street events, and Moto X Freestyle, Speed & Style, Step Up, Enduro X, and Best Whip competitions, in addition to RallyCross and off-road truck racing events, the likes of which the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix venue's designers probably never imagined.

“We look forward to hosting the X Games this June and introducing tens of thousands of brand new customers to the world-class venues we have at Circuit of The Americas,” said Paul Thornton, president of TAG Presents LLC -- the events management company for Circuit of the Americas and the Austin360 Amphitheater -- in Tuesday's announcement. “Austin is an ideal location for this international event as this city represents the bold and independent mindset embodied by the X Games. We’re ready to give action sports fans a Texas-sized festival experience with sports, music, rides and activities above and beyond what has ever been attempted before.”
