Colton Satterfield's double flair
Before X Games Austin 2015, the double flair was a trick that had only been attempted once on the MegaRamp (by Kevin Robinson, who first landed the trick in an X Games BMX Vert Best Trick competition in 2006). Coming into Austin, Colton Satterfield had been practicing the trick, and on the last run of the night, he made it a MegaRamp reality. He grabbed his second consecutive X Games gold medal in BMX Big Air as a result.

BMX Dirt gets bigger
Last year, BMX Dirt was reintroduced to X Games Austin, and the course was located on the side of a hill at Circuit of the Americas. This year, the course moved to the other side of the venue, and almost doubled in size. The resulting competition was one of the best BMX Dirt competitions in X Games history.

Dennis Enarson's attention to detail
It's no secret that Haro Bikes pro Dennis Enarson is one of the most well-rounded BMX riders in BMX history. He can go big, he's stylish and he can ride a variety of terrains with ease. He also does tricks that few riders ever touch, including the cancan nose pick on a deep part of the BMX Park course, on top of a plexiglass sub box. This is a trick tailor made for video, not consistent competition runs, unless your name is Dennis Enarson.

No wind at BMX Big Air
Last year at X Games Austin, BMX Big Air was plagued by high winds. The competitors almost called off the contest for safety reasons, but decided to ride because of the growing crowd. This year, the winds died down in time for the competition, and it reflected in the progressive riding seen during BMX Big Air.

Women's BMX Park demo
There are no contested disciplines for women BMX riders at X Games Austin, but that doesn't mean that they don't have a presence at X Games. On Wednesday before the competition began, a crop of growing women BMX riders took to the BMX Park course for an extended demo/session that ultimately became a highlight of the week.

Hawk, Dhers meet Metallica
Metallica came and went from X Games Austin 2015, and everyone is still talking about their legendary performance. But before the band took to the stage on Saturday night at X, a lucky few X Games competitors got to meet the band, including BMX Park riders Chase Hawk and Daniel Dhers.

Daniel Sandoval's first X Games gold
In the Toyota BMX Park finals, Daniel Sandoval put together a rapid-fire run of technical tricks, including a front-flip flair, on his third and final run. The win marked the first X Games gold medal for Sandoval, who earned bronze medals in BMX Park at the past two X Games. "It's insane. I never thought this day would come. All I thought about was my dad," said Sandoval, whose father passed away in 2009. "I just wish he were here to see this."

A new generation of BMX Big Air arrives
The crop of BMX riders that compete in BMX Big Air at X Games has remained a steady selection since the discipline was introduced to X Games. With veterans Chad Kagy forced to sit out due to heel injuries, and Steve McCann down in the sixth place spot, a new generation of riders emerged to step in and grab medals, including Colton Satterfield, Morgan Wade and Mykel Larrin.
