Returning to Buttermilk Mountain at Aspen Snowmass, X Games Aspen will bring the worlds top action sports and music stars together Jan. 25 28, 2018. X Games Aspen will also feature musical performances by LCD Soundsystem, Marshmello, Martin Garrix and Method & Redman. Here, XGames.com checks in with the music acts slated to perform at X Games Aspen 2018.
LCD Soundsystem is currently touring in support of its fourth LP and first number one album, American Dream. James Murphy founded LCD Soundsystem in 2002, releasing the classic 12-inch single,"Losing My Edge," a relentless groove topped with amonologue cataloguing the trendsetting bands and rare records discovered by its protagonistin his younger, cooler prime.LCD's self-titled debut album followed in 2005, featuring the Grammy-nominated "Daft Punk is Playing in My House." 2007's Grammy-nominated Sound of Silverbecame the most critically-acclaimed album of that year on the strength of the anthemic "All My Friends" hailed byTimemagazine as one of the 10 Best Songs of 2007. LCD Soundsystem's thirdalbum,2010's This is Happeningwas the band's first to break the U.S. Top 10. This Is Happening was supported by a massive world tour culminating inan instantly sold out marathon farewell show at Madison Square Garden, documented by the feature film "Shut Up and Play the Hits" and the audio compilation The Long Goodbye. LCD Soundsystem marked the end of its hiatus with the surprise 2015 "Christmas Will Break Your Heart" holidaysingle, followed by a 2016 tour featuring headline appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza and more. On September 1, 2017, the band released the record Esquire hailed as"the timeless, intricate album James Murphy's fans always wanted but never expected": American Dream. Preceded by the singles "Call the Police" and "American Dream" both performed during the band's May 7, 2017, debut appearance on Saturday Night Live.
In addition to the concerts at Buttermilk, X Games Aspen artists will play intimate club shows at Aspen's famed Belly Up. The 450-person venue will host Method Man & Redman on Wednesday, January 24, LCD Soundsystem on Thursday, January 25 and Friday, January 26, Martin Garrix on Saturday, January 27 and Marshmello on Sunday, January 28.
At just 21 years old, Dutch superstar Martin Garrix has become one of electronic dance's youngest phenoms. The young producer has made both Billboard's prestigious "21 under 21" as well as Forbes' "30 under 30" list, while he won a MTV European Music Award for Best Electronic Act and has been tapped by brands like 7UP and Tag Heuer to collaborate. Getting his start DJing his parents' parties, Garrix hit number one on the UK charts and double platinum status in the U.S. with "Animals" in 2013. Since then, Garrix has linked up with heavyweights including, Tisto, Afrojack and Dillon Francis as well as played soundtracks to festivals all over the world, including Coachella, the main stage at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Amsterdam Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival. In 2016, Garrix signed with Sony Music International and launched his own STMPD RCRDS label. He also took the number one spot on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs Poll and landed residences in Las Vegas and Ibiza.
It's easy to get lost in the numbers behind Martin Garrix's meteoric rise. From his adolescent years to the onset of young adulthood, the Dutch superstar has already set precedents and scored landmarks at every corner of the music industry. Picked up by Spinnin' Records and subsequently backed by Scooter Braun, Martin has become one of electronic dance music's youngest superstars.
One of the latest acts to take the electronic world by storm, Marshmello experienced a sudden rise to fame upon launching the project in March 2015 solely on the success of a handful of originals and remixes including: "SuMmeR," "FiNd Me" and "BLocKs." Dubbed a "Breakthrough Artist" in 2015, superstars Skrillex, Diplo, Avicii, Zedd and Ariana Grande have sought Marshmello for official remixes. Unleashed in January 2016 as a surprise release, Marshmello's debut album, Joytime a compilation of his previously available tracks placed in the Top 100 overall iTunes chart and topped the iTunes Electronic Albums chart at number one on its first day of release. Additionally, Joytime landed in the top five on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His live performances have gained him notoriety across the live music and festival circuit, garnering him high-profile performances at Ultra Music Festival, HARD Day of the Dead, Beyond Wonderland and Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas. He's also headlined his solo Keep It International Tour, a 29-date trek in which all shows were sold out in advance, along with an Australian tour featuring multiple festival performances.

New for the ultimate music fans at Aspen 2018, X Games will offer Diamond Music Club passes, which provide fans access to a heated premium viewing tent, heated outdoor patio at the GEICO music stage and complimentary beer and wine.
