Axel Weinmann, Germany
"The idea behind this shot was to create an action image in which you feel like you're on the moon, looking down at Earth. These days many people would think of Photoshopping this background first, but that was not my way of doing it. To create this, I bought a huge beach ball that looked like the Earth and hung it up in the background of the action." --Christoph Laue

Brock Crouch, Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah
"The Beta Movie crew came out to Salt Lake City last spring and crashed at my house. Because they were all new to filming in Utah I took them to one of the area's most classic backcountry jump spots, FlagStaff. It's located across the street from Alta, with one of the mellowest hikes around. This shot was taken in a section we call the Valley of the Cornices. Brock Crouch and the crew built this nice hip into a natural cornice and sessioned the jump for hours, having a blast under a classic Utah blue sky." -- Ethan Fortier

Julia Brueckler, Germany
"A mini ramp on a lake is not something you find every day. Fortunately, I was able to shoot it for a skateboard competition. When I heard of this ramp, in Cologne, Germany, one of the first things I thought was that I wanted to take a picture from above. So I grabbed my drone and asked Julia Brueckler if she would be my subject. The biggest problem was to shoot Julia without anyone else on the ramp, because it was the day before the contest and all the riders just arrived, so of course everyone wanted to skate it. Luckily, I managed to get 15 minutes alone with her, so this photo turned out." --Hannes Mautner

DJ Brandt, Canada
"The 'Crowd Favorite' event at Whistler's Crankworx Whip Off Challenge brought together legends and rookies in the sport to entertain with all sorts of tricks -- like DJ Brandt here who is pulling this massive, steezy Indian Air for the biggest crowd explosion." --Ale Di Lullo

Ryan Gallina, Tahiti
"The perfect day at Teahupo'o, Tahiti: not a cloud in the sky and waves neither too big or too small. Seasoned local Ryan Gallina caught as many waves as he pleased. We also watched so many go unridden, as this swell snuck past the Internet hype machine and drew only a minimal crowd of locals to surf it." -- Morgan Maassen

Isidore Jansen, Namibia
"I went to Namibia this year to road trip across the country with my friend Richard Friedl. I wanted to skate this mini ramp and hopefully get a good photo there, but it was quite challenging to find the spot. After a long research, and help of a good friend, I made it, but then it took me a couple of days to find the owner. Luckily, Isidore Jansen, from the city of Swakopmund, was there skating when I finally got there so I could take this image." --Hannes Mautner

Steve Hamilton, Detroit, Michigan
"Steven Hamilton footplants the collapsed second story floor of a once-productive, now-abandoned factory in Detroit. This is a scene that would most likely leave the late designer/architect Albert Kahn baffled." --Theodore Van Orman

Anne Hofsink, Netherlands
"Anne Hofsink boosts out of a holy rail in Nijmegen, at the end of a cold street session while the light is beginning to fade." --Aaron Zwaal

Tom Parsons, Utah
"This photo of Tom Parsons was taken in Utah during his first freeriding trip back from a year-long injury. He couldn't wait to ride again, literally, even though conditions for this trip were not ideal. It was the middle of August and 100 degrees outside. That didn't stop him from finding this unique, natural jump. Welcome back, Tom." --Chris Tedesco

Willis Kimbel, Fallbrook, California
"First kickflip on a bike? This is Willis Kimbel doing a frontside kickflip on a BMX dirt jump somewhere out in Fallbrook, California. He had painted "A BIKE" on his grip tape weeks before we went to the jumps and just happened to bring that board with him this day." --Steven Levas
