Villopoto wins fourth Supercross race in a row

TORONTO -- Ryan Villopoto raced to his fourth consecutive victory and seventh in the first 12 rounds of the AMA Supercross season, holding off Davi Millsaps on Saturday night in front of 48,669 fans at Rogers Centre.

Villopoto, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider from Poulsbo, Wash., increased his lead in the 450SX Class standings to 12 points over second-place Millsaps.

Villopoto took the lead from Millsaps on the 11th lap in the 20-lap event and pulled away for his 31st career victory and second in a row in Toronto.

"It was unbelievable," Villopoto said. "Davi is riding really well and he was riding exceptionally well [tonight]. I got around him with about halfway to go and I was able to get a little bit of a gap."

In the 250SX Class, Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin, from France, won his third consecutive race in the Eastern Regional Championship.

"My confidence wasn't so much there because I had a crash [in practice]," Musquin said. "But I really need to thank the team because they are better than me and helped push me tonight. It was a tough day."

Former Supercross champion Chad Reed, who finished fourth Saturday and is fourth in the overall standings, is scheduled to have knee surgery Tuesday, but his team said it hopes he will miss only one race and be ready to return in two weeks in Minneapolis.
