Behind the Scenes: Simon d'Artois
Simon's Week in Aspen
Canadian halfpipe skier Simon d'Artois didn't make the finals of men's Ski SuperPipe, but his week at X Games Aspen 2014 was action-packed regardless. Here's a look behind the scenes of his time spent in Aspen.
Wake Up Call
Not a bad way to wake up in Aspen. Here d'Artois opens up the doors of his hotel to a sunny morning in the pool.
In Aspen, d'Artois' girlfriend (on right) and another friend made it out from Whistler to watch him compete at X Games.
Keeping the body fit and ready for competing is something athletes always keep in mind while at X Games. Here d'Artois does some stretching in the afternoon before going to pipe practice.
Sticking his legs in a bucket full of snow and water, then hopping into the pool became part of d'Artois' training program to keep his body ready to be out competing for hours on end.
This is where he goes after sticking his legs in a bucket full of ice cold water. This is probably just a bit easier to withstand than the bucket of ice.
This is what everything leads up to, every day builds up to this one moment at X Games. Your mind and your body better be prepared. And all that preparation comes down to that one perfect run down the pipe.
Let There Be Cake
When the TV crews are gone and the scores have been settled, the evening is spent with close friends and teammates. There will be a gathering and in this case, a Canadian themed cake.
