This marks Kio Hayakawa’s third X Games appearance. He burst onto the scene with gold in Flatland at XG Chiba 2022, where he was the youngest athlete on the entire roster (just 20) and the youngest BMX competitor at the event. He earned his spot last-minute as an alternate when Jean William Prevost tested positive for COVID upon arrival in Tokyo—and made the most of the opportunity.
