- UNDERSTANDING COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
We and our service providers may collect Other Information in a variety of ways, including through a browser or device; using cookies, pixel tags or other similar technologies; and through IP addresses.
Cookies and Pixel Tags
Cookies are a standard feature of websites that allow us to store small amounts of data on your computer about your use of our Sites. A cookie is a small piece of information that a website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer’s hard drive. It acts as a tag that identifies your device. Cookies have the ability to store information about web pages viewed and the advertisements viewed or clicked. For registered users (as applicable), cookies can also save user information and screen preferences.
A pixel tag, also known as a clear GIF or web beacon, is an invisible tag placed on certain pages of the Sites but not on your computer. When you access these services, pixel tags generate a generic notice of that visit. They usually work in conjunction with cookies, for example, registering when a particular device visits a particular page. If you turn off cookies, the pixel tag will simply detect an anonymous visit.
You may also wish to refer to http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/index.html. You can change your browser settings so that cookies are declined or deleted. Note, though, that if you do not accept cookies, you may experience some inconvenience in your use of the Sites and you may not receive advertising or other offers from us that are relevant to your interests and needs.
Your IP address is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider. Your IP address may be identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever you access the Sites, along with the time/date of your visit. We may use IP addresses for purposes such as calculating usage levels, diagnosing server problems, and providing the Sites. We may also derive your approximate location from your IP address.
