About Ibuki Matsumoto
X Games Osaka 2025 Women’s Skateboard Street bronze medalist Ibuki Matsumoto is already leading the next wave of Japanese talent in the discipline, earning her first medal at age 13. She finished 4th in both Street and Street Best Trick as a 12-year-old rookie at X Games Ventura 2024. She made the podium at the Japanese nationals in both 2022 (2nd) and 2023 (3rd), She stunned in her first international competition, the World Skate Dubai event in March 2024, winning the qualifiers round, taking 4th in the semifinal, and finishing 4th in the final. She grew up far from the centers of Japan’s skateboarding scene, in Kumamoto on the island of Kyushu but grew up skating at Ukiuki Skatepark in Uki City, a surprisingly large skatepark in what she describes as “the countryside.”
