X Games Aspen 2026 Snowmobile Freestyle rookie Daniel Shaffer worked behind the scenes at X Games Aspen 2018 and 2019 as a mechanic for his fellow Canadians Mike Poirier and Josh Penner, and says finally getting his own ticket to the big show 7 years later is a dream come true. A performer at heart, he freelances for freestyle shows across Canada and the U.S. for Global FMX, X Racing, Rave X Motorsports, and Octane Addictions. He’s best known for his “Sideshow” trick — hovering next to the sled mid-air — and for backflip variations. He grew up trail riding with his dad, competed as a snocross racer for three years as a teen, and loves freeriding in the Ontario backcountry near his home in Dryden.
