MoonPay X Games Chiba 2026 Returns to Japan, Marking the Next Era of Action Sports

Makuhari Messe to host world’s top athletes in Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X, July 4–5

The world’s premier international action sports competition, X Games, returns to Chiba on July 4–5, 2026, bringing together the globe’s top athletes in Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X at Makuhari Messe.

With more than 30 years of history, X Games continues to push the boundaries of action sports while shaping global culture across sports, music, fashion, and community. This year marks a major evolution for the brand with the introduction of the MoonPay X Games League (XGL)—a new, year-round, team-based professional competition.

“Japan has become one of the most important stages in the world for action sports, driven by a generation of athletes who are dominating across both Winter and Summer X Games disciplines,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “With the introduction of the MoonPay X Games League, we’re building a season-long platform that matches their level — showcasing the world’s best talent, deepening fan connection, and continuing to push the culture forward.”

A New Format: The Launch of MoonPay X Games League (XGL)

Debuting in 2026, MoonPay XGL introduces a team-based format alongside traditional individual medal events. Four mixed-gender “X Games Clubs”—each composed of elite Skateboard and BMX athletes—will compete across three global stops (Sacramento, Chiba, and New Orleans) for the season-long championship.

The clubs represent four major global cities:

Each club consists of 10 athletes (five men and five women), creating a diverse and international roster. Fans can now follow their favorite X Games Clubs throughout the season, introducing a new way to engage with action sports.

More Than a Competition

MoonPay X Games Chiba 2026 will feature 15 events across three disciplines—Skateboard, BMX, and Moto X—over two days of competition.

Beyond the field of play, the event delivers a full festival experience, including:

  • Live music performances
  • Food and beverage experiences
  • Streetwear and action sports retail
  • Interactive fan zones

From high-impact competition to immersive entertainment, X Games offers an all-day experience for fans of all ages.

Note: July 3 (Fri) is an official practice day and is not open to the public.

Global Impact

Since its launch in 1995, X Games has become one of the most recognized action sports platforms in the world:

  • Broadcast to 500 million households across 192 countries via ESPN
  • More than 6 million total attendees across 13 countries

For athletes, X Games remains one of the most prestigious stages in action sports.
