MoonPay X Games New Orleans 2026 Championship Takes Over Caesars Superdome and Brings the World’s Best Action Sports Competition to The Big Easy
Day One Featured a Hometown Gold Medalist, the First-Ever Scooter Park Best Trick Competition, and the Championship Race Heats Up With Two Days to Go
NEW ORLEANS (July 24, 2026) – The inaugural MoonPay X Games New Orleans 2026 Championship kicked off three days of elite action sports competition at the legendary Caesars Superdome. More than 80 athletes representing 16 countries are competing in 20 events across skateboarding, BMX, Moto X and, for the first time, scooters.
After Day One, the XGL championship standings X Games Club (XC) Tokyo has taken the lead with 1,970 points, ahead of XC New York’s 1,880. XC São Paulo is in third place with 1,710 and XC Los Angeles rounds out the standings with 1,610 points.
Friday’s action in New Orleans featured five events: Monster Energy Men’s BMX Street, Moto X Best Whip, Bluff Scooter Park Best Trick, MoonPay Women’s Skateboard Vert, Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street Best Trick. From defending champions and rising stars to first-time medalists, the day featured close finishes, milestone performances, and unforgettable moments in the first-ever XGL Championship.
Monster Energy Men’s BMX Street
Garrett Reynolds adds to his X Games-best career gold medal haul
Garrett Reynolds (XC São Paulo) topped the field and won his X Games-record 19th career gold medal extending his record for most gold in X Games history and is now four ahead of Nyjah Huston and Shaun White. It is also his 27th medal overall, which moves him into second place all-time, tied with Huston and trailing only his XC SP General Manager, Bob Burnquist, who collected 30. At 35, Reynolds is the oldest BMX athlete in the competition and has now medaled in 24 of 26 BMX Street appearances.
Devon Smille (Free Agent) finished runner-up and Boyd Hilder (Free Agent) rounded out the podium in the first medal event of the New Orleans stop. Both riders had their highest scores in their second run.
Garrett Reynolds: “I was just thinking not to go too hard off the beginning and was hoping to land a run. A lot of mental toughness. I loved hearing the Superdome crowd! I wasn’t expecting that for the first event for them to be so lively and engaged with what we were doing, but I think Broc [Raiford] coming in as the hometown boy set the tone for them to get involved. It feels crazy to have consecutive wins. When I got drafted to the team, I put a little bit more effort into just trying to get my body right and work on landing hard tricks more often and It feels really good that I’ve had a goal and I kind of went out and did it. I live day by day, so this is really good for today, but tomorrow, I have to start doing other things, you know?”
Moto X Best Whip
Local boy Wyatt Fontenot takes the gold medal in front of his hometown fans
After winning his first X Games medal in Sacramento with a bronze, Louisiana’s own Wyatt Fontenot was the last rider to take his run, falling to his knees as he secured his first X Games gold medal.
At 44, Tom Parsons is the oldest athlete competing at X Games New Orleans and coming off consecutive silver medals (Sacramento 2026 and Salt Lake City 2025). Of his 10 career medals, six have come after turning 40, a record amongst the quadragenarians of Moto X. Belgian rider Julien Vanstippen finished third in the contest.
Wyatt Fontenot: “I worked my butt off to get here. I mean, the sacrifice, it’s…everybody works hard, but the blood, sweat, and tears, I got to this point. It is unreal. From working full time jobs, going through my second year at X Games, so now I can say, I’m a professional dirt bike rider. It’s amazing, and to do it in my home state, I’m blessed.”
Bluff Scooter Park Best Trick
Jack Ward wins the X Games’ first-ever Scooter Park Best Trick competition
In the first-ever X Games Spotlight Event, Jack Ward topped the podium with an incredible backflip double front scooter flip in front of awestruck fans. Cody Flom’s frontflip flair tailwhip rewind kickless rewind secured runner-up, and Matis Neyroud threw down a 360 frontflip to wrap up third place. Fans have the opportunity throughout the weekend to vote on the potential of the event in future X Games.
Jack Ward: “I don’t think I can really put it into words. I grew up watching the X Games with my brother and just to be here is unreal. So to win it, I honestly can’t be into words. The crowd was insane. It’s definitely the biggest crowd I’ve ever competed in front of, but once the time starts, you kind of just lock in and watch all your mates around you. It’s a good vibe and yeah, you just get the tricks started. I just want to thank everyone that’s ever believed in me. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that.”
MoonPay Women’s Skateboard Vert
Mizuho Hasegawa wins to extend her lead for the XGL MVP
Mizuho Hasegawa (XC Tokyo) successfully opened her quest to become the first female to win three golds at the same X Games, and the 15-year-old had a solid start at accomplishing something last done in 2006. It’s the second straight Vert gold for Hasegawa and 11th medal total. It’s her sixth medal of the 2026 season, making her the first person in history to earn six X Games medals in a calendar year. Hasegawa has two more Skateboard disciplines (Park and Vert Best Trick). Hasegawa entered New Orleans with 440 points, tops in the XGL MVP race, and extended her lead in the MVP race with the win. She also added to XC Tokyo’s point total in the race for the overall crown.
Mia Kretzer (XC Los Angeles) doesn’t turn 12 until October and she’s now a six time X Games medalist, owning every “youngest” record possible (athlete, medalist, and gold medalist – earned as a 9-year-old at X Games Ventura 2024). Hasegawa and Kretzer are the two youngest athletes in the Vert field. Asahi Kaihara (Free Agent) put a solid third run together to complete the podium
Mizuho Hasegawa: “I focus on everything I can right now, and I will continue to do so for the other events. Honestly, I didn’t know until the last run, but I got a 93 and I was really hyped, and I’m really happy.”
Monster Energy Men’s Skateboard Street Best Trick
Juni Kang captures his third straight gold in the event this year
Juni Kang (Free Agent) completed a sweep in 2026, winning all three Street Best Trick comps held this season. He used a different trick to win all three gold medals. Kang entered X Games New Orleans as the top-ranked Undrafted Free Agent (UFA). His 340 points were tied for fourth overall, and after this gold, he moved up to second place. Kang is the only Korean to take gold at an X Games summer discipline and just the second overall. He’s now medaled in all six of his X Games starts.
Braden Hoban (Free Agent) and Julian Agliardi (Free Agent) finished second and third. Hoban secured his fourth X Games medal with a kickflip frontside feeble grind over the gap from the bump-to-rail. Agliardi was called up by XC New York to replace Nyjah Huston and took advantage of the opportunity with a kickflip frontside feeble grind over the gap from the bump-to-rail.
Juni Kang: “It feels like a dream. I can’t believe I won for the third time in a row. I’ve had a great time in New Orleans. It has a really nice vibe.”
