X Games Launches Spotlight Events with Two New Competitions at MoonPay X Games League Championship
Bluff Scooter Park Best Trick and STAKE Men’s Skateboard Park Best Trick debut in New Orleans, creating a pathway for emerging disciplines and competition formats to join future X Games events – and potentially the MoonPay X Games League.
NEW ORLEANS (July 15, 2026) — X Games today announced the launch of Spotlight Events, a new competition platform designed to introduce emerging action sports disciplines and innovative competition formats to the X Games stage.
The inaugural Spotlight Events will debut during the MoonPay X Games League Championship at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, featuring two firsts in X Games history: Bluff Men’s Scooter Park Best Trick on Friday, July 24, and Stake Men’s Skateboard Park Best Trick on Saturday, July 25.
Spotlight Events are designed to showcase new disciplines and competition concepts in front of the global X Games audience while giving athletes and fans a direct voice in shaping the future of the sport. Competitions that generate strong athlete participation, fan engagement and excitement may ultimately earn a permanent place on future X Games programs and be considered for inclusion in the MoonPay X Games League.
Scooters are making their mark at X Games for the first time ever, and fans will have the opportunity to be heard and vote on each Spotlight Event during the ESPN broadcast.
“Progression has always been the heartbeat of X Games,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “Spotlight Events are our way of testing what’s next, but what happens after New Orleans is up to our fans. If you want Scooter Park Best Trick or Skateboard Park Best Trick to become permanent parts of X Games, make your voice impossible to ignore. Watch it. Share it. Debate it. Flood social media. We won’t decide the future of these events in a conference room; we’ll decide it by listening to the community that has always pushed X Games forward.”
The Scooter Park Best Trick competition will feature the world’s top scooter athletes attempting their most progressive tricks in a high-energy, winner-take-all format.
“I’ve spent my career chasing progression, no matter what I’m riding,” said Ryan Williams, a freestyle scooter pioneer and 16-time X Games BMX medalist. “Scooter has reached an unbelievable level, and the tricks being done today deserve a stage like X Games. It’s exciting to see Spotlight Events open the door for more athletes and more disciplines to be part of the future of action sports.”
The Men’s Skateboard Park Best Trick competition will showcase the world’s best park skateboarders pushing the limits of progression on one of action sports’ biggest stages.
“The best part of skateboarding is chasing tricks that seem impossible,” said five-time X Games medalist and two-time Olympic Champion Keegan Palmer. “Park Best Trick creates another stage for those moments; the kind that inspires the next generation and reminds everyone why X Games is where progression happens.”
The MoonPay X Games League Championship will bring together the world’s best skateboard and BMX athletes to compete for the inaugural league championship while celebrating the culture, creativity and progression that define action sports. The addition of Spotlight Events expands the championship weekend by creating a launchpad for what’s next.
Fans across the U.S. can watch live on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, with every moment also streaming domestically on the ESPN App for Unlimited plan subscribers, and worldwide across Roku Sports Channel, X Games YouTube, Kick and the X Games TV FAST Channel on Amazon.
