About Sora Shirai
X Games Chiba 2024 Skateboard Street gold medalist Sora Shira led a Japanese podium sweep, joined by Kairi Netsuke and Ginwoo Onodera. He’d previously earned 2 bronze medals in Skateboard Street in his first two X Games appearances, first at X Games Minneapolis 2019 and then at XG Chiba 2022 (where he joined gold medalist Yuto Horigome and silver medalist Daiki Ikeda for the first Japanese podium sweep in the discipline). Known for his incredibly technical tricks, he was on the podium in 4 of the Olympic qualifying events including a won the World Skate Street Championships in Tokyo in December 2023, and finished 4th at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July. He also competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, finishing 9th. He turned pro with his first signature pro Blind Skateboards deck in September 2020.
