Shuichiro Shigeno surprised in his rookie appearance at X Games Aspen 2024, in from the alternate list just moments before the competition and finishing 4th; he finished 5th in his follow-up in 2025. He has collected three World Cup halfpipe podiums to date, 3rd at the Calgary Snow Rodeo in Canada in both 2023 and 2024, and 2nd at Buttermilk in January 2026. The X Games SuperPipe has field has been overhwelmingly populated by Japanese athletes in recent years; Shigeno is proof that the next generation is already here.
