About Rene Rinnekangas

Slush Magazine’s 2025 Rider of the Year Rene Rinnekangas is beloved in and out of X Games. For his video part mayhem as seen in his December 2024 film “Heaven” and his X Games Real Snow 2020 gold medal entry (both directed by his longtime filming parter Anton Kisski), Rene is equally well-recognized for his for Slopestyle and Big Air contest achievements. The Finnish ripper with an irrepressible personality earned a surprise silver in Slopestyle at X Games Aspen 2019, then won gold (and the Fan Favorite vote) in his first X Games Real Snow appearance in 2020. He added Slopestyle bronze at Aspen in 2021 and Big Air bronze in 2022. Landing the backside 1980 in Slopestyle at XG Aspen 2022 made him the first snowboarder to land a 1980 in competition.
