About Taiga Hasegawa
Taiga Hasegawa became the first snowboarder to land a switch backside 1980 in competition on his way to Big Air gold at X Games Aspen 2024, his first X Games medal, in his third appearance. He first announced his presence to the world at the Stomping Grounds Sessions in Saas-Fee, SUI in October 2021, just before his 16th birthday, by becoming the first snowboarder to land 1800-degree spins in all four directions (the first ever to land the switch backside 1800). In September 2023 he stepped it up to become the first snowboarder to land 1980-degree spins in all four directions. He’s been on a tear on the World Cup big air circuit, too, with 4 career wins, 5 total podiums prior to X Games Aspen 2025.
