X Games Names Paul Asencio Chief Revenue Officer Following Breakout Year of Global Growth
Former UFC, Williams Racing Formula 1, and NY Mets Executive Joins as the New MoonPay X Games League Delivered the Strongest TV Viewership in Nearly a Decade and LAUNCHED ALL Eight Inaugural League Clubs
BOULDER, Colo. (October 29, 2026) — Following a breakout year that saw more than 150,000 fans attend events across winter and summer, sold-out competitions and X Games’ strongest TV viewership in nearly a decade, X Games today announced the appointment of Paul Asencio as Chief Revenue Officer, effective November 9.
Asencio will lead global partnerships, sponsorship sales and commercial revenue strategy for X Games and the MoonPay X Games League (XGL), reporting to CEO Jeremy Bloom.
Asencio brings more than 25 years of commercial experience across some of the most recognized properties in global sports, including UFC, Williams Racing Formula 1, the New York Mets and Fanatics.
As Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships at UFC, he spent more than five years leading sponsorship sales during a period when global sponsorship revenue more than tripled. He subsequently served as Chief Revenue Officer of Williams Racing, where he oversaw commercial and marketing operations and helped drive a 150 percent increase in commercial partnerships in one year.
Asencio’s appointment comes amid accelerating momentum for X Games:
- More than 150,000 fans attended X Games events across winter and summer 2026, including over 50,000 at Aspen and more than 100,000 at the inaugural MoonPay X Games League summer season’s three stops in Sacramento, Chiba (Japan), and New Orleans.
- X Games Aspen 2026 attracted 15.2 million viewers across ABC and ESPN, up 48 percent year over year, and delivered X Games’ largest television audience in eight years.
- The XGL Summer Season reached 18.3 million U.S. television viewers, up 78.5 percent year over year, with 7.5 million viewers tuning into multiple stops.
- The XGL Summer Season generated more than 200 million social media video views.
- X Games secured ownership groups for six of eight inaugural XGL clubs: XC New York (winter and summer), XC Los Angeles and XC São Paulo summer clubs, along with winter clubs XC Golden State and XC Park City. Title sponsor MoonPay holds the options for the final two clubs – XC Tokyo (summer) and XC Whistler (winter).
- XGL introduced a new model of structured seasons, teams and expanded compensation opportunities for athletes.
“We’ve spent the last two years building an entirely new model for action sports, and the momentum behind X Games is as strong as ever,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “We’ve launched a professional sports league with eight teams and a growing global footprint. Now it’s about turning that momentum into a sustainable, scalable global business. Paul helped drive global commercial growth at UFC and Formula 1, two of the biggest growth stories in sports. He knows how to build high-performing teams, create meaningful partnerships and turn passionate fandom into long-term value.”
Earlier in his career, Asencio spent 17 years with the New York Mets, rising to Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, Sales and Services, followed by two years as Vice President of Venue Business Development at Fanatics. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at Playfly Sports.
“What attracted me to X Games is the combination of a globally recognized brand and the momentum behind an entirely new league model,” said Asencio. “I saw firsthand what happened as UFC reached new audiences and Formula 1 grew its fan base. X Games has the brand, athletes, the audience, the energy and now a professional league that creates year-round opportunities for partners. I’m excited to join Jeremy and the team to build the commercial business behind its next era.”
The MoonPay X Games League debuted with its inaugural Summer Season in 2026, transforming the X Games format from standalone events into a professional team-based league with season-long storylines, rivalries and championships. Its inaugural Winter Season begins in January 2027, with events in Aspen, Colorado; Calgary, Canada; and Ruka, Finland. The expansion creates more ways for commercial partners to engage fans across live events, broadcast, streaming, social media and local team markets.
