Brazilian skateboarder Filipe Mota earned a silver medal in Street Best Trick in his first on-site X Games appearance, at X Games Ventura 2024. He had an earlier breakout year in the middle of the pandemic era, making his X Games debut at age 13 in the 2020 Real Street Best Trick video contest with a bigflip frontside boardslide shove-it on a 9-stair handrail, then winning the Tampa Am Global Amdemic video contest. He’s been on fire ever since, joining Paul Rodriguez’ Primitive Skateboards team in 2023 and dropping a heavy part in the Primitive amateur team video “Daydream” in February 2024. In April 2024 he graced the cover of Thrasher Magazine with a kickflip front blunt down the 16-stair handrail at Hollywood High.
