JD Sanchez earned his first X Games medal, Skateboard Vert silver, at X Games Osaka 2025 in his second appearance (after finishing 4th in Vert and 5th in Vert Best Trick as a rookie at X Games Ventura 2024). Known for blasting out of the vert ramp, and for his many variations on the “varial” vert skateboarding trick, he’s a charger and a risk-taker. He joined the 900 club in August 2024, landing it outside of competition while on site for the Lexus Vert Pro at Huntington Beach, California: look for it in his competition runs soon. Born in Hawaii and raised in the northern California city of Pleasanton, he’s a bit removed from the rest of the California vert scene centered in San Diego County, but has so far managed to fit right in. He’s been having a breakthrough year outside of X Games, two, with recent wins at Vert Attack in Sweden, Globe Australia Pro, and Jackalope Montreal.
