About Ginwoo Onodera
Ginwoo Onodera stunned in his rookie appearance at X Games Chiba 2023, winning Skateboard Street gold at at age 13 years, 2 months to become the youngest gold medalist in the discipline’s history. He followed it up with bronze in his next appearance, at X Games Chiba 2024, part of an all-Japan podium sweep with Sora Shirai and Kairi Netsuke. The 2022 and 2023 Japanese national champion grew up skating at Shin-Yokohama Skatepark in his hometown, just outside of Tokyo. He was on the podium in three of the Olympic qualifier events and finished 14th at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The level of technicality and all-around skate ability in his runs is extraordinary for a skater of any age. As Tony Hawk recently put it, “He skates like he’s in a video game.”
